Great continuation of the series

If you like the Ghost Motel series, you'll like this one! It's nice to see more interactivity than in the previous episodes. I really like the voices. Perfect ghost voices! Music may be a bit loud and it tends to interfere when people are speaking. Otherwise the music sets the mood perfectly. The background graphics seemed to be less detailed than in GM3. Maybe add more detail to the next installment. The puzzles were challenging with the large number of choices but not impossble.
A couple of notes:
- Have more interactivity with the background objects (e.g. the stores at circus entrance could do something when clicked on - just like the museum objects.)
- This episode had less demons and seemes less spooky than GM previous episodes. You mentioned that Joseph'll eventually become a Demon Hunter. I'm looking forward to that episode :)

Overall, good job guys!

Violet-AIM responds:

Thanks for the critique. Very helpful suggestions as always. I'll keep that music thing in mind for the future. Some parts might've been a bit rushed, so I understand that there were parts that could've definitely been improved on. This was supposed to be kind of a light episode, giving Joseph a break from all that scary demon stuff, just so he can have a little fun by going to a circus, but in the next episode, he will get back into facing some more demons.

Nice scrolling game.

I've never played MM type games on console but this game has that feel from what I've seen. Good job on the coding. The wall climbing/jumping is almost perfect (sometimes he didn't jump as high as usual after jumping off the wall when I just kept pressing the jump button to move up the wall). Overall, it's an enjoyable game but I would also like to have a password option because I didn't feel like restarting from the beginning after playing with the second character (not sure the name).

It's hard to say why this game doesn't have a better score. Maybe the relatively small screen size or maybe there isn't much originality in terms of gameplay or maybe something else. Who knows.
Anyways, keep up the good work!

maelstormm responds:

Thanks for the review. This is only the intro stage, the full game will have some form of cookie/password system unlike MMN.
I'd have to attribute the low score due to the uninformed people and the retards. But they get theirs as I come across of them.

Almost perfect game

Just like I imagined playing "Madness Redeemer"!!! Now you can join the Madness!! Nice control idea and good gameplay.

A couple of improvements:
1) The "hand" seemed to get stuck at shoulder height and I was unable to reach the weapons on the ground(both on NG and on Full screen). I had to move the mouse up and then down the get it "unstuck".
2) Not being able to die (constant regeneration) kind of takes out the challenge. Having limited amount of lives would be better. (or did I miss something?)
3) I feel that the game is fairly short. More rooms with less enemy attacking at any given time could prolong gameplay.

That's all and keep up the great work!!!

Has potential

Good game overall but runs "slow". I have a pretty good comp and it runs "slow" even on LOW quality. Maybe that's how you intended it. If that's the case, try to make the gameplay faster next time. Overall, I enjoyed it.

As a flash movie/game creator, I can see the amount of work that went into it but many people just look at how much they like the game. So far the game has a pretty good score and made Daily Feature too.

There are a couple of things I found useful about optimizing Flash speed vs file size (in case you don't know these yet):
1)Using transparent areas and gradient colors will increase processing time - try to minimize them.
2)Using images (e.g. gif, jpg, png) takes less processing time compared to a vector image. The total file size will increase but the game'll run faster.
3)For images that have transparent areas, the edges of a .png picture seemed smoother than a .gif when imported.
4)When exporting an image with transparent areas you might find that the edges have an unexpected color. To eliminate this, change the background color of the program you are using (e.g. Flash, Photoshop) to the color of the edge. If this doesn't work, you can always change the edge using some kind of photo editing software - but that takes more time.

Hope this helps,

I appreciate your advice. Very useful, for the most part. I don't really like using non-vectors in Flash tho. I know, now, how much lag gradients create, but they just look so damned nice :'(

Pretty good game

I liked this game a lot. It shows a lot of effort.
One thing you might want to consider: even on low quality it got slow in the parking lot when a lot of action took place (i have a p3 1GHz with lots of Ram). Try to reduce the use of gradients. Another thing you could try: use a .gif image for the backgrounds. Why? I am currently making a sniper game and when I replaced the background with a gif image, the processing got a significantly faster. That might do the trick. I'm not sure if 4 players could really play this game - or even 2. I played a computer car racing game with my brother (both using keyboard) and when we pressed 4 keys simultaneously, all controls locked. I'm not sure about newer keyboards though.
Finally, I liked the AI in the game. Keep up the good work

Funny

Hi Violet-AIM,

Congrats on making the Daily Feature #3! :)
Good job on the animation. I liked the nice graphics and the extra props you added.

I haven't seen the show but some of those guys are really bad. :D Overall, there are probably more good singers than bad singers on the show but it's much more entertaining to show the bad.

You seem to be getting many requests for Ghost Motel ep4. Do you know when you might be continuing it?

Istvan_from_TutiTV

p.s. I was going to mention why I don't put Tuti TV in the movie title any more in my last review but forgot. I left it out because there isn't a lot of space for the title. I'm almost done with ep5 and I'll post it this week. Maybe Thursday or Friday.

Violet-AIM responds:

Actually I think there are more bad singers on the show, but ya, they're probably more fun to watch. I have no plans to do Ghost Motel 4 yet, I have many other ideas/projects that I want to try first before going back to that. But I'm not dropping it, someday when I feel like it, I will continue it. Glad to hear that TutiTV ep.5 will almost be out. Thanks for keeping me updated. I'm dying to see what's next. :)

Nice graphics but nothing more

Overall it seems like as if you took an existing game and modified it a bit. I'm not saying that you did, but there are a lot of similar games out there. Graphics look nice and music is good. Gameplay is a bit easy. Maybe you can put a forcefield around ships that players cannot shoot down (or force field appears when player shoots ship). Also, many people don't like to read (especially the author's comments) so that's why many people didn't know that some ships cannot be shot down. Mention it in the game somewhere. If you implement the reviewer's suggestions, this game can be pretty fun. Also, try something original. Cheers,

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At first I wished there was more color but as the movie/game progressed it seemed cool with the occasional colors.
Good music selection and sound effects.
Also, good job on the animation.
Excellent work! It was worth it!

Not bad

Quite well done. Decent gfx and interactivity.

One thing: the circle on the text bubbles is small (I use 1024x768 resolution). Also, they moved.

Other than that, good.
Keep it up!

Great Flash game!

Really cool game! :D It reminds me of House of Dead.

A couple of things:
1) I was sort of expecting a little longer gameplay based on the file size.
2) Graphics details were good, although in some cases, it could've been more detailed.

Keep up the great work!

Nebula-Entertainment responds:

True True. File size is a problem. Longer sequel for sure.
